WeKnowSFA schoolmate hits SPL hat-trick!

Peter ‘Peaso’ MacDonald hits three for Super Saints

WeKnowSFA - St Johnstone

It is a long time ago now but there was a day when one of the WeKnowSFA team would strut about at the back for their school team. Even then, they were physically slow but mentally fast and did just about enough to earn the captains armband.

Purely because they shouted louder than everybody else as opposed to having any footballing skills!

The Bellarmine team of 96 certainly wasn’t great but it had two players that made it to the big time in Scottish football.

Goalkeeper Davie McGurn is still making a living from the game but the key player of the squad is still very much in the thick of it.

In fact, there wasn’t a more prominent player in the Boxing Day fixtures.

Motherwell had a 1-0 half-time lead but that home lead was obliterated in 17 second half minutes. Peter MacDonald has suffered a few injury problems this season which have seriously hampered his playing time but he did his goal scoring ratio no harm at all.

In fact, given that today was McDonald’s third appearance of the season, he is currently standing at a goal a game.

This win moved St Johnstone up to 7th and a full 7 points above the bottom placed team. For a promoted team, that is a very healthy gap to create above the relegation spot.

There is still a very long way to go for St Johnstone and the New Year is likely to see some low points. However, if enough away points like this can be picked up then the Perth side are likely to be returning to SPL action next season.

Are St Johnstone staying up?
