West Ham United were recently bought over by ex Birmingham owners Sullivan and Gold, who immediately announced they would be splashing the cash to bring new firepower to the club. With West Ham United seriously involved in a relegation battle, the club need new additions to get the goals to keep them in the English Premier League.

Carlton Cole has returned from injury, Benni McCarthy has worked his ticket from Blackburn Rovers but West Ham have failed in a few other moves. The supposed £100,000 per week striker never cam to pass and there appears to be the suggestion that Tottenham may usurp the Hammers for Eidur Gudjohnsen.

This means the Hammers have to look elsewhere for new recruits and one name in the frame is Celtic’s Scott McDonald, according to BBC Scotland.

It appears to be no secret that Scott McDonald is not the preferred striking option for Tony Mowbray and the rumour mill has been in overdrive with chat of fall-outs between boss and striker.

McDonald is a moany two-faced whinger and he is definitely carrying a few excess pounds but McDonald gets goals and what Celtic need now is not love sweet love…but goals.

Tony Mowbray appears to like his strikers to work hard, move wide, drop deep and be everywhere….everywhere it seems apart from the box. New signing Morten Rasmussen showed some movement and a willingness to get into the box against Hibs but it is asking a lot for the striker to fit right in immediately.

However, it seems that McDonald wants away and Tony Mowbray wont need too much persuading to move the striker on.

Can Celtic find a striker to fill McDonalds boots…if not his top?
