It’s early February and unless you are able to blank out shop windows, you will know that Valentines Day is looming. Even Greggs have a special Valentines range.

Greggs!

Crikey, there’s romance for you – nothing says I love you more than a sausage roll and a yum yum. Good luck to you if that is the extent of your romantic gesture to your better half.

Scottish football has always been more about St Mirren or St Johnstone but this coming weekend, fans will be keeping an eye out for St Valentine duties too.

Celtic fans are making the long trip to Aberdeen but with the game being a Saturday lunch-time kickoff, there is still plenty of time for Celtic fans to get back to Glasgow and head out on the town for a dinner or film.

Rangers are involved on the 14th against Hibs and the Teddy Bears are looking to show how much love they have. And of course, when there is love, there is usually hate and you can bet that Donald Muir wont be getting any cards from secret admirers at Ibrox.

Rangers fans are planning a High Noon protest outside Ibrox on the 14th and there will be no love lost from Gers fans to Lloyds.

Hamilton and Motherwell clash for the second weekend in a row and with another local derby, it is unlikely there will be any love lost between these two. The home side will be desperate to get off the bottom of the league, wish is probably all that Hamilton fans are looking for this weekend.

In days gone by, the best location for football fans on Valentines Day would have been Love Street but with St Mirren moving to a new ground last season, this romantic trip is no longer available. The Buddies are at home this weekend though with Dundee United visiting Paisley, the home of Paulo Nutini and all they tunes the girls love, so dont forget to buy a present before Sunday comes.

Okay, football and romance don’t go hand in hand but there have probably times when many fans have had to choose between their team and their love. By rights, your football team will always be there regardless so you should look out for your better half but logic does not always come easy in the world of Scottish football?

Do you have any stories where football came before your love life?
