Rasmussen needs to pass Ross Hall test to become a Celtic player

A strict medical to test the player’s knee

Celtic may have scored four goals in the second half against St Johnstone but they created 26 chances. This indicates that Celtic are still woefully inefficient with respect to the amount of chances they take from what they make.

This is why the club are in the market for a new striker and Morten Rasmussen appears to be the man of the moment for Celtic. The Glasgow club has agreed a deal with Brondby, leaving personal terms and a medical to be completed.

The player suggest that the personal terms, believed to be around £20,000 per week on a three and a half year contract, will not be a problem;

“I really hope this deal can go through.”

“My personal terms are the only thing outstanding, but it shouldn’t be a problem. Celtic are a big club and it’s a dream for me. I was happy at Brondby but I always hoped to get a move to a club like Celtic. “

“I think the Scottish league would be perfect good for a striker like me. I know great things about the club having spoken to [Celtic’s former Danish players] Morten Wieghorst and Marc Rieper.”

However, Celtic are expected to examine the player’s knee extensively as the player suffered ligament damage previously.

This injury kept the player out for a number of months but he has bounced back to score consistently in the Danish league.

Celtic fans are desperate to get a new forward on board but if there are any doubts about the long term fitness of the player, the club has to know what they are. It can only be hoped for the club and player that the medical will go smoothly but with so much at stake, it is easy to see why the Glasgow club will take every precaution possible.

Do you think Morten is the man to fire Celtic to glory this season?

Stupid article every outher player that signs for Celtic goes through the same medical cant believe a journalist got paid for writting this garbage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not every player would have a history of knee ligament damage. I think it is worth pointing this out and that it is looked at thoroughly. We don’t want to be buying a dud and the last thing we need is a non-player getting paid mega bucks to sit out injured or otherwise. Every club including Bronby would try to off-load a player with a potential weak knee if they could get away with it. Medicals might be stating the obvious Dannybhoy but in this case the previously damaged knee does add a bit of a story, and we as fans would be the first to come down on the club if he wasn’t signed, and be blaming the medical as just an excuse not to spend. Puts a bit of pressure on the doctors though doesn’t it?

  • I don`t think it`s a stupid article at all Danny. Rasmussen suffered a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury, which kept him out for nearly a year, although it appears he`s fully recovered. Have you forgotten about John Kennedy?, because this injury can sometimes finish a player`s career. The writer is correct in saying particular attention will be paid to the player`s knee during his medical, and to be quite honest will have to be, for insurance purposes for a start. It`s far from the first time i`ve known of a prospective signing having to undergo stringent tests on a particular part of his body during a medical, and far more common than you may think. Let`s just hope he`s 100% ok, and starts banging in the goals!.
    Hail Hail!!!!

Danny is quite correct to say that “whats the point, every player gets a medical” because that is true, any signing would be thoroughly checked out for any defects, so in that sense, it isnt really news.

However, as JohnPaul7 and AnkaBhoy have pointed out, the players medical history indicates it is something that needs attention.

Players can get injured at any time so a medical can be pointless at times – you could sign a player in perfect health and then they could get crocked in their first game.

However, as Celtic are said to be offering Rasmussen a three and a half year deal, Celtic need to be certain the ligament is in good working order and can withstand a few years of hard service.

don’t forget, john hartson failed his medical at rangers…

  • Geoff

Did John Hartson not fail the Rangers medical because they managed to get Rondald DeBoer to sign that day and couldn’t really afford both players?

Just one of the theories that were going around at the time.

  • I’m here to put Rangers in their place!
