Rare footage of Davie Weirs Rangers debut surface
The sprightly youngster is still plugging away
You know what it is like. You have a wee party, things get a bit messy and in the morning when you are tidying up, you find something that you thought you had lost forever.
Rangers have been having a few parties in recent weeks and the latest was in celebration of the news that Walter Smith was staying on for another year. There must have been a few bottles of wine (from SDM’s personal vineyard?) tucked away at Ibrox but the good news is that the clean up process found pictures of Davie Weir on his Rangers debut.
Davie Weir was slightly older than most players when he made his debut for the club he supported as a boy. The following picture shows Weir running out for Rangers back in 1954. Davie Weir was 28 at the time.
No of course not, as we found out yesterday, it’s silly season. This is actually the picture that Rangers are launching their new Tennent’s kit with.
It means that the pictures that leaked a few weeks back, you know, the ones where Kevin Thomson looked like a school boy in the gym getting into trouble for dishing out wet willies to the other pupils was genuine. Which probably means the red and white striped kit will be the away top for Rangers next season.
Rangers have a tendency to release three strips a season (well, every little helps) so there may still be another Rangers strip to come in September / October time but for now, all you Gers fans will be weighing up getting this new home top.
And we did say last night, expect to see the “Welcome The Chase” saying crop up…we just didn’t expect to see it almost instantaneously!

Like the traditional style coming back, with no red in the home top, plain white shorts and the traditional black socks with red tops. The sign of the sponsor could have been a whole load worse looking if they had insisted upon a big T rather than the simple white version of their name. Not so keen on the away strip of red and white stripes and the 3rd kit is an all black affair.
The avoidance of the big red T has to be applauded…or at least accepted as the lesser of two evils (which of course, makes it the better choice as you end up with less evil).
An all black kit for Rangers 3rd kit? Is that not what they had in 2009/10?
Sure there were some sparkling Rangers performances from men in black throughout the previous season…..
i like the idea of the retro kit coming back but from the leaked pics of the red and white kit am not keen on that, and btw people there is a red T on the kit its on the side of the shorts not fully visible in this pic, just above a gers badge if u look on the gers website u will see it

I thought it was your worst nightmare that uncle Watty was to be kept on with super Sally taking over. You will have to put up with more of the anti-football you so obviously despise (and rightly so).

I don’t know how you figure out that Celtic supporters are going to be sick that uncle Watty finally has a contract and Swally is lined up to take over. What exactly has changed then to make us scared?
Some people really are delusional at times. I know it’s a girls perogative to change her minds but you are taking the whole packet of rich tea here.
Also (get my right tuppence in here before the horse bolts) what exactly have the ‘Timmy’ press (a staggering concept that only exists in your mind) been scaremongering about? On the odd occasion I pick up someone else’s paper it seems ra Gers have had a pretty easy ride. Compare this to the days when Celtic almost went to the wall.
