The draw will kick-start their season
It hasn’t all been comfort and joy down at Ibrox this season but the American contingent has suffered more than most.
Injury has hampered Maurice Edu and Damarcus Beasley from really making an impact this season. With a World Cup looming, the two need to be playing regularly to ensure they are selected for the 2010 World Cup.
Although he has not featured for a long while, Edu had an unfortunate incident at Ibrox the night Rangers were humbled 4-1 by Unirea. The player said this recently;
“It was an unfortunate incident, I’ve never had that from my own fans, who’ve been good to me for the most part during my time here,”
“It hasn’t tainted my image of Scottish people or fans in general.”
This will hopefully be behind the player and with a World Cup to look forward to, all focus will return to football.
The full World Cup draw can be found at WorldCup2010
The United States have been drawn against England, Algeria and Slovenia.
Both players may be thinking they need to go elsewhere to get first team football but with the uncertainty at Ibrox, they could find plenty of first team chances in the months to come.
There is also the excitement of coming up against Madjid Bougherra and his Algerian team-mates.
Who will win the battle of the Blues?
