Rangers return to on-field matters

by WeKnowSFA

Football takes centre stage again

Getting back to football matters may be a relief for Rangers fans and players this Saturday. There were no midweek games but the fans were kept busy with takeover talk and renewed speculation over their manager.

The clock is ticking with regards to Walter Smith’s contract but there appears to be no progress or discussion on the matter. Press speculation varies wildly depending on which paper you read but the SFA may be turning to Smith once more.

This may occupy journalists but the Rangers gaffer will be fully focussed on the game at the Falkirk Stadium.

After the 3-3 draw with Celtic at the stadium last month, Rangers will be aware that there is a possibility they may drop points against the bottom of the table side.

Early team news from Rangers suggests that Madjid Bougherra is pushing hard for a recall to first team action. Youngster Danny Wilson has performed commendably but may be in need of a rest, with the Algerian being the perfect replacement.

Long term injury victims are still likely to be missing for the Champions but Kenny Miller will be pursuing a return to the starting line-up.

As for Falkirk, a win would see them leapfrog Kilmarnock and Hamilton but Bairns fans would likely be delighted with a point if the chance occurs.

Falkirk lost 2-0 to Hibs in their last match but boss Eddie May was happy with the performance but Pedro Pele could be handed his debut.

It’s a big name to live up to but what an introduction he would give to the Bairns if he could supply some magic.

The early Saturday kick-off is the perfect tonic for those struggling to get going at the weekend but neither Falkirk nor Rangers can afford to be caught napping on Saturday.

Will Rangers poor away form continue?
