Rangers have a Heroes and Villains and Legends day

Yes, we’ll take any excuse to get a Brian Wilson related headline into play and of course, the official billing for the entertainment at Ibrox today is a ‘Heroes and Legends’ day. However, you know how fickle fans are.
Even though Rangers hold a massive lead at the top of the SPL, the 4-1 defeat to St Johnstone in midweek would definitely have cast some players in the role of villain in the eyes of some punters.
However, today is a perfect opportunity to redeem themselves and push the team within 10 points of securing the title. With Celtic at Easter Road on Easter Sunday and Rangers at home versus Aberdeen on Tuesday, there is still the potential for 9 points to be chased down in the title in the next few days.
That can wait though, Rangers just need to go about securing three points against Hamilton today before the other issues become a major concern. And they will face a Hamilton team on a bit of form.

The Accies are currently on a six match unbeaten run and have built an eleven point lead over bottom club Falkirk. The Lanarkshire side face Hibs at home after their trip to Ibrox before dropping into the split and facing the bottom six clubs.
This could give the Accies a sense of freedom today but they may be without Mickael Antoine-Curier, who has a knee injury.
Rangers have no new injury or suspension worries but after the midweek thumping, there may be a few changes made by Walter Smith. Speculation has heightened over Danny Wilson’s future with news that Liverpool have declared an interest in the player but the youngster is likely to be involved today.

Rangers have to respond and do so hard today. They have been brilliant all season, but are due the fans a performance after the desperate display against St Johnstone midweek. I think they will do so today, titles have to be earned and although Celtic have done us a fair few favours this season, now is the time to complete the job themselves.
3 points today will apply a degree of pressure on Celtic’s Easter sunday game against Hibs, a team that are on a desperate run of form. A draw may not be out of the question there.
Follow that up with victory against Sidemouths Sheep and the title is in touching distance.
You can never tell but you would expect Rangers to come back firing today. It’s not even as if Walter Smith will have had to say too much, the players will know that Tuesday was a bad night but they have the perfect opportunity to bounce back at Ibrox.
Hamilton will be well drilled and organised, Billy Reid’s teams give a good account of themselves most of the time, so a bit of patience may be required but Rangers should have enough.
As for Celtic tomorrow at Easter Road, could genuinely go either way – the Rangers title party at Tannadice could still be on…even if Scooter wants to gift the three points to United to help them overcome the hoops in the race for a Champions League place.
