Which Rangers goalie will go?
Will the Ibrox glove affair be over for one keeper?

Walter Smith, in a press conference in the build up to the Tannadice match, indicated there would almost be a willingness to let Neil Alexander go, if the goalkeeper requests a move in the January transfer window.
The Monday morning headlines suggested that Alexander would be looking to leave but the goalkeeper has moved quickly to dispel that. Any interview can be taken in a number of ways but Alexander seemed to stress he was not desperate to leave the club.
“I’m very keen to stay at Rangers and I have absolutely no desire to leave whatsoever. I’d love to stay here for the rest of my career if possible.”
With speculation now surrounding Rangers two goalkeepers, it seems likely that one will leave but which one?
On the one hand, Alan McGregor is the number one at the club and has been in good form of late. Selling him could send out the wrong signals for the club at the moment. For all that though, selling Alan McGregor could bring in a substantial amount of funds to the Ibrox club.
Sticking with McGregor but selling Alexander would see Rangers fan happy at keeping their top stopper but would provide very little in way of funds.
The wage difference between the two players is also likely to be of a substantial amount so the long term saving of retaining Alexander would be favourable to the bank as well.
In all honesty, can anyone think of a time when Alexander has let Rangers down or any goal conceded by him that McGregor would have stopped?
McGregor may have more presence but it is not as if he is the sort of goalkeeper who will command his area and come for crosses all the time. Since Goram and Klos, this has not been the style of the Rangers No.1, making shot stopping the most important aspect.
In basic terms, it is easy to see that the sale of McGregor could bring in greater funds without necessarily weakening the side that much. Rangers would then require an additional goalkeeper as back-up but the first XI would remain strong.
Both players are in a position of strength that they do not have to leave if they do not want to but if one genuinely wants to stay, there may be pressure applied on the other.
It is all speculation at the moment but with finances being so tight, do Rangers really need two goalkeepers of their current standing?
Rangers fans, who would you rather lose if you had to sell one keeper?
