Rangers fans think McGhee lies down more than Wayne Bridge’s ex g’friend
Aberdeen and Rangers feud stirring up again

Mark McGhee eh? He no doubt considers himself to be a bright chap but sometimes you have to wonder.
For a man who would appear to be quite media savvy, he has made a few blunders this week and has opened the way for his critics to pounce.
Firstly, there was the lucky escape of an injury time equaliser at Raith Rovers and then the on-air swearing during an interview with a radio station. He then had a pop at the Aberdeen fans and their treatment of some of the players.
That is all bad enough but McGhee will have read the papers this morning and thought “oh no”.
The media spin is that McGhee is going to field a weakened team against Celtic at Pittodrie on Saturday. This is to allegedly keep his players fit for the cup replay against Raith Rovers but in all honesty, it is being done to help Celtic win the league. Or so we are being led to believe.
Firstly, let’s take McGhee’s actual comments, not the media spin of them. We’ve already had them on the site thanks to regular reader Quagmire but it is a major talking point in Scottish football and deserves to be examined further.
“We do not necessarily have to beat Celtic on Saturday to finish fourth in the SPL and make Europe.”
“We do have to beat Raith in the Cup.”
“We need our strongest squad to be fit for Tuesday so I will need to be careful who I pick.”
“It might be I’ll make changes for Saturday to make sure the best team is clear to face Raith. It’s something I have to look at carefully.”
These comments are maybe ill-advised or maybe tying in with McGhee’s remit that silverware is the key thing for Aberdeen.
Perhaps that what he was told when being offered the job. Aberdeen’s league finishes under Calderwood were strong but the cup offered little but disappointment.
Perhaps McGhee’s objectives for this year are to get Aberdeen to a final. If so, the Raith game is the important one (although please don’t take that as us advocating the resting of players).
Nowhere does McGhee state that he will rest players.
One issue to consider is that Raith will play a very different game at Pittodrie than Celtic will.
Celtic will have a young defence and a lot of focus on attack. Celtic are likely to have a lot of the ball and will play with width in an attempt to stretch Aberdeen.
Raith will play with a solid defence and midfield and will, in all likelihood, show a level of commitment and effort that will be higher than that offered by Celtic.
They will be two very different games and different tactics and formations may bring positive results in both games.
Perhaps this is what McGhee has in mind and he has just worded it very poorly. In fact, why did he even have to mention it at all. That is where McGhee has let himself down and let himself open to accusations.
And if Aberdeen lose, regardless of how the game panned out, McGhee will be criticised if his team has been altered. And Aberdeen and Rangers fans would have every right to question that decision.
The Rangers fans chief John McMillan is said to be fuming and furious at what McGhee may be up to but everyone can rest easy, as John is not biased or a bigot.
Well John, you are biased, you support a team, it is perfectly acceptable for you to view this issue with your own clubs interest in mind. We wouldn’t comment on the other issue although unless the issue of being a bigot was posed to Mr McMillan, it seems strange that he would issue a denial of the situation.
WeKnowSFA would like to state we are not a unicorn or a 1960’s Glasgow corporation bus.
We are glad we have allayed peoples fears about that but returning to McGhee, is he just a silly man or is he genuinely at it?
This media backlash may force McGhee into altering the team he had in mind against Celtic but regardless of which 11 start the game, Aberdeen will surely have a chance against Celtic.
Celtic have an inexperienced backline, a front line that is still coming to terms with each other and there is a lot of team work to be done on the training field for the players to gel. Aberdeen can get at Celtic so fans shouldn’t automatically assume its a banker away win just yet.
If Aberdeen lose, this won’t be the end of the matter no doubt but if they win, perhaps a ‘weakened’ team should be selected by McGhee in every match.
Is Dirty Dingus doing the right thing?

The quotes are all from McGhee’s side what was the question.
Was he asked what game was his priority or if he had planned to make any changes.
Celtic and Rangers have made big changes to their starting lineup for most of the season, tabloid papers trying stir up a storm when there isn’t one there.
Quick response from “Dub Central” i am sure I have seen that name on a celtic fans websiting advocating the WeknowSFA website!!
Surely not responding to your won articles
Scooter
Not my article mate, I don’t write for the site.
If you read the bottom of the site I help with the design and technical side of the site.
I also help out with promotion if I can, thanks for taking the interest.
If you would like to help spread the word or maybe wear a t-shirt, feel free we need all the help we can get.
Thanks
Scooter,
Dubcentral provides the technical design and layout for the site – this is clearly marked at the bottom of the main page.
He is not on the writing team though.
So yes, it was a quick response, he is part of the overall team at WeKnowSFA (and gets the facebook page updates) but he isn’t one of the writers and had no input to the article.
Apart from that….what are you doing on Celtic fans websites?
You need to keep tabs on the enemy!!
Free tshirt and I spread the word!! Only kidding!
You are doing a good job, always a pleasure to read, unlike some other sites!
Scooter
It’s only a pleasure to read because I’m not doing the writing.
mcghee is a cow tae
May 1982 If Celtic lose to St Mirren & Aberdeen beat Rangers by 4 clear goals Aberdeen win the league guess what @ half time its Aberdeen 4 Rangers 0,Season 59/60apx Rangers lose last game of season, if Hearts(who are leading 1 – 0@half time) get @ least a draw against Celtic they win the league guess what Celtic win 2 – 1.
Hate to say I told you so, but I told you so. The thing is, Celtic will have too much in the way of firepower for the ‘dandy dons’ anyway, they wont need to save their ‘star’ players as they won’t make a blind bit of difference anyway.
Amazing how the media and their spin is now getting the blame on here, the papers have been working this way since Jesus left Dumbarton and sidemouth knows fine well how they operate.
I now fully expect Mr Lawell to call out Aberdeen and the SPL hierarchy for a lack of sporting integrity within the competition, or perhaps he’s too busy organising his teams end of season trip to Japan?
C’Mon Danny, leave the conspiracy theories to Fox Mulder. You’ll be telling me next that St Mirren lay down to Celtic when they needed to score five to win the League in 1986 next.
Or perhaps you sharte the view of Cris Sutton, who thinks Dunfermline lay down to Rangers so they could win the league, the same player whose team mates accused ex Celtic team mate, Gordon Marshall of trying to hard against them in the Kilmarnock game?
Aaah Quagmire, it’s a Friday.
If you are a drinking man, go have a post work pint for us!
(Edit: This was written before your post of 14:21 – dont want you think we are having a pop at you for reacting to another posters remarks about lay downs, we’ll side step that one but everyone can batter in with their favourite lie down moments if they feel like it!)
Also, cheers Jaz, the simple use of the word cow is enough to elicit laughter around these parts!
Quagmire i just stated facts i never said any team lay down thats for outhers to decide.
BTW the 1986 game @ love st Paddy Bonnar was one of Celtics best players that day,2003 Chris Sutton was rather silly.
Dannybhoy
In 1983 St Jim Stewart was one of your best playesr!!!
Wee curveball here, we all know that sidemouth mcghee is a celtic cheerleader, would any of the Celtic fans on here have been happy with him being appointed the Celtic manager after WGS?
And another thing, remember Strachan bought Adam Virgo for some ludicrous fee, circa £2M if I remember correctly. He also just bought Lee Miller (out of contract in the summer) for £500K Who thinks they two are at it?
Scooter LMFAO class comment!!!! Quagmire you dont believe crap you read in newspapers they just make up the transfer fees off the top of there heads that is a 100% fact they dont have a clue what the fees are.
Stupid comment for McGhee to make, he should be penalized if he fields a weakened side. Mind you English Teams do it for League Cup, doesn’t say much for SPL.
Cheers Wilber,
as the league has stipulations regarding team line-ups, they would at least have to examine the line-up if a lot of changes occurred.
BTW your headlines out of order if a woman wants to lie down its got fuck all to do with you unless she wants to lie down with you & thats anouther matter entirely ah cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!
