Rangers could be a Big Star with thirteen point lead
Familiar foes stand in their way

Well, we’ve not had one of these games for a while…St Mirren head to Ibrox to take on Rangers.
These two clubs meet each other than most footballers see their wives and of course, they clash again in two weeks time at Hampden in the league cup final.
Rangers have today’s match, a match on Tuesday and then a Scottish Cup tie before they take on the buddies at Hampden. The buddies have the Ibrox clash today, a league match on Tuesday and then a game versus Hamilton next Saturday. No advantage to either team there.
St Mirren drove Rangers very close in the two Scottish Cup ties and it took Rangers close to 180 minutes to break the deadlock in they games. However, that is Rangers in the cup, the league performances are usually of a more powerful nature.
Whether it is psychological, maybe Ally McCoist does pick the cup teams and isn’t as inspiring as Walter Smith, maybe the opposition have an extra edge when it comes to cup games. Whatever the reason, Rangers appear to have an extra gear to step up to in league matches and anything over than three points for the home side would be a shock.
This would of course see Celtic 13 points behind the leaders and facing Falkirk tomorrow, a side they haven’t beaten this season yet. We would say that Celtic are due the rub of the green at the Falkirk Stadium tomorrow but we fear that may be taken as an insult to the Falkirk pitch!
Of course, the buddies will be keeping an eye on Falkirks result too. An Ibrox defeat today would give Falkirk the chance to draw level on points with St Mirren tomorrow with a win. The goal difference is 9 at the moment so even if that does happen, St Mirren should remain above Falkirk.
Madjid Bougherra is an injury doubt after last Sunday’s game whilst Rory Loy is unavailable for St Mirren but Chris Innes could be in line for a return.
Any shock at Ibrox today?
