Is Randolph a Ruddy replacement for Motherwell?

Talks to be had with new keeper

WeKnowSFA - Motherwell

We enjoy most Friday nights but last Friday was particularly enjoyable. A reason for this was the return of the IT crowd to Channel 4 as it brought the rather fantastic Richard Ayodae back to our TV screen as Moss.

He’s not really a man for a regular catchphrase but the word ruddy has popped up a few times with his hope that music was sounding “ruddy mysterious” being a top line from Friday night. It’s not as good as the time he screamed “I’ve got a gun…I’ve got a ruddy gun.

That’s all well and good but what has the word ruddy got to do with Scottish football?

Well…..John Ruddy was the Motherwell goalkeeper last season but hopes that the keeper will be able to extend his loan from Everton appear to be fading.

A sign that Ruddy may not be returning to Fir Park may have come with the news that Darren Randolph looks set to be arriving for talks with the Lanarkshire club.

Randolph is 23 years old and made 14 appearances for Charlton Athletic last season. The goalkeeper also has caps for the Republic of Ireland B side and under-21 sides.

Craig Brown has been quick to distance the club from any definite move for the keeper but what a manager says and what they do is not always the same issue. Even if Randolph does not sign up, it does appear that the Well are in the hunt for a new first choice goalkeeper.

Dont forget that it is only two weeks until Motherwell return to the European scene with the first leg against their Icelandic opponents taking place at Fir Park. The ‘Well need to get up to speed quickly as their opponents are well into their season but hopes are high that Craig Brown can get the right result.

Are Well fans well up for the European tie?
