Paisley man set to enjoy Rangers and St Mirren cup final

Craig Thomson announced as the man in the middle for Hampden

You have to wonder if choosing Craig Thomson to be the ref for the League Cup final this season?

Not because he is a bad choice, you wouldn’t say Thomson is any poorer than the rest of the officials to choose from.

However, perhaps choosing a ref from Paisley isn’t the best idea.

Of course, maybe there is no ref hailing from Hillington or Ralston so they can’t select a ref that comes from the middle ground. And surely, Chick Young assisted by Bill Leckie would have given the best chance of an official who has the interests of both teams at heart.

Haha, no of course not, it’s just a light hearted look at the announcement of the ref. And anyway, it’s not as if Young or Leckie could be classed as impartial.

For Thomson, it completes his set of cup finals after having previously officiated in the Scottish Cup final and of course, the Scottish Challenge Cup. Officiating in the big games is the pinnacle for refs so he will no doubt take a great deal of pride about being given this appointment.

Lets hope we have no reason to talk about Thomson after the final.

There are still Scottish cup and league games to look forward to this weekend but it is inevitable that the build up to the League Cup final is starting to take place.

It’s always a good day when you wake up and have a Cup Final to look forward to. Not so sure about playing St Mirren for the 99th time this season will be as much of a pleasure right enough! None the less, they deserve their big day after making it through to the final and it will either by a tense odd goal affair, or Rangers will win it at a canter. Experience of Hampden and the pitch dimensions, means Rangers will have a bigger advantage, they also have players who know how to win trophies.

As for Young and Leckie, I hope those two twats are nowhere near Hampden next weekend, one’s a sensasionalist, patronising twat of a man, the other one is a wanker.

I’ll let you decide which one is which.

Regarding Young and Leckie, they could be one or the other, or both even. Less said about these two wannabes the better.
As for Thomson being the Ref, I have no worries about this (He is part of the ESTABLISHMENT after all lol.).
OOPS sorry for mentioning the E word.
Seriously like said above, I also think Rangers will run out comfortable winners on the Hampden pitch.

Yes Ken, be like many Glasgow youngsters and drop the E!

EDIT: WeKnowSFA does not condone that behaviour – just a casual joke.

St Mirren have defended well against Rangers of late but in a final at Hampen, you just cant see anything other than a comfortable Rangers win.

First goal is crucial but even then, you would think Saints will need two to win – maybe the two goal lead to really believe in themselves.

the saints are well organised but i hope they have a go , even at 2.1 down on sat they barely came over the half way line for long spells . i know they are hard to beat but so are rangers but we score a few too.
