Pain again for Houston’s Dundee United
How not to get a job

3 games.
1 goal scored, 8 conceded.
1 draw, 2 defeats.
Peter Houston was honest enough to say after the midweek mauling that he would not be putting himself forward for the Dundee United manager’s job. Mind you, it was not as if you had any United fans backing him at the end of that game.
The Rangers debacle, whilst highly embarrassing, was not a game where the three points would have been considered as a banker for United.
However, four points out of six in home games against Kilmarnock and Aberdeen would have been considered a reasonable return so taking just one point is a very low return.
United have the referee to thank for the single point they took at home over the Festive period with Kilmarnock feeling hard done by about a Mark Burchill strike that was chopped off.
It is easy to lay the blame at this slump at Peter Houston but there were signs that Craig Levein’s team were dipping as well.
So, where to turn now for United?
Paper talk appears to suggest that John McGlynn, currently Raith Rovers boss, is the favourite to succeed Levein. McGlynn was a caretaker boss at Tynecastle twice but his other managerial experience comes in the lower leagues of Scottish football.
WeKnowSFA can’t claim to knowing too much about McGlynn…but it is fair to say that he comes across as a thoroughly annoying individual.
Dundee United fans won’t care if he is the most disagreeable person on the planet if he can get them back to winning ways.
United fans, does McGlynn do it for you?
