Nacho innocent and Kirk is back

by WeKnowSFA

Things are on the up for Rangers

Rangers fans are waking up to two positive bits of news and if Celtic continue their Europa League form into tonight’s match, the old saying about things coming in threes may be true for the Ibrox fans.

Firstly, Nacho Novo has laid out his defence for the accusations that he mooned the Aberdeen fans.

Rangers' Striker Nacho Novo bares his backside at the Aberdeen fans at Pittodrie.

Novo has developed the reputation of someone who could start a fight in an empty house but the Spaniard insists this time he is innocent.

In an interview with The Sun, Novo states;

“When the game ended a kid asked me for my shirt.”

“I gave it to him and in order to rearrange the top I’d been wearing underneath, I lowered my shorts a bit.”

This may sound slightly far fetched but after examining video footage of the Aberdeen fans gesturing at the player, it becomes a realistic explanation.

Some of the Aberdeen fans can clearly be seen telling Novo to “go tuck yourself Novo”, which should see Novo escape any SFA rap.

Okay, the SFA may not swallow the defence offered by Novo but at least he has given us all a chuckle with his reasoning, after all, he seems to have coveniently forgotten the middle finger he waved at the Aberdeen fans too.

Better news for Rangers came with the fact that Kirk Broadfoot sailed through 45 minutes of action at Murray Park.

Broadfoot has been absent since the 2-0 after extra time defeat to Celtic in last season’s League Cup final.

The Scottish international’s last involvement was to haul down Aiden McGeady for Celtic’s penalty clincher but Broadfoot looked comfortable on his football return.

All Scottish football fans will know that Broadfoot managed to capture front page media attention after an unfortunate home accident during his injury absence but he appears to be recovered. There certainly appeared to be no sign of shell-shock on the players behalf as he played a part in Rangers closed-door win over Ayr United.

Some of the more upbeat members of the Scottish media may refer to Broadfoot’s return to first team action as being like a new signing for Rangers but he will definitely provide another option in defence for Rangers.

Danny Wilson has exceeded expectations so far but with youngsters, inconsistency in form is almost expected so the return of Broadfoot would provide ample cover if Wilson needs a rest for a game or two.

It is a quiet week for Rangers but the news of Broadfoot’s return will give many fans a reason to smile.
