Will Motherwell v Hearts be a High Numbers game
Who’s Next to try to stop Well’s unbeaten run?
The Who, when they’re not trout farming or clocking up the bandwidth, have been known to sing a song or two. The line “meet the new boss….same as the old boss” from ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again’ could be the soundtrack to this clash.
Motherwell’s season has been transformed by the appointment of Craig Brown. The former Scotland has picked up two manager of the month awards and talk about Motherwell in the Europa League is building.
Hearts took advantage of Jim Jefferies exit at Rugby Park to bundle Csaba Laszlo out the door and bring their former boss back. The first few results indicated Jefferies was in for a sticky time with the Jambos but has done well since.
A severe injury list was a strong reason for last week’s reversal at Tannadice but generally, results have improved.
There is a lot at stake at Fir Park.
A home win would take them above Hibs, reason for Hearts to find solace in defeat, and maybe even Dundee United, if they can grab a four goal win. Yes, the Well could well be in 3rd place on Saturday night if they improve their goal difference. A large part of the Well success has been built on a strong defence and with Hearts looking weak upfront, Well’s good form could continue.
Hearts are able to bring Laryea Kingston and Eggert Jonsson back into their squad after suspension and Jamie McDonald and Scott Robinson should be fit. The home side have named the same squad as the one that travelled to St Mirren Park in midweek.
Hearts are unable to move up the table with any win but three points would place them very much in the mix for third place. This is not out of reach for the Jambos just yet so there could be a thrilling end of season in store those of a maroon persuasion.
Who will triumph in the battle of the old heads?
