Aiden in no-show as Celtic stumble

There has been a lot of speculation about the future of Aiden McGeady and there is the suggestion that Alex McLeish may be back in with a bid around £10m. The Celtic Twitter Underground has hinted that the Celtic PLC board may be ready to deal at a price closer to the £15m mark.

Anyone watching today would have decided against paying £15 for the Irish internationalist but Aiden McGeady has been the creative force for Celtic this season. Without him, it is hard to see where Celtic fans would have got any enjoyment from the past few months.

There is a big need to strengthen at Celtic Park. If they don’t, Tony Mowbray could find that his position becomes untenable.

It is still a bit too early for any Celtic fans to be calling for the managers head but patience is starting to wear out for the same old mistakes that keep occurring week after week.

Today has shown that Celtic are entirely reliant on Aiden McGeady and it is never healthy for one club to look for one player for inspiration. If that player can’t do it, is injured or suspended, then that club is going to struggle.

If Celtic were to cash in on McGeady, they could put the money to good use by bringing in 3 or 4 quality players to improve the team. If the PLC board sold Aiden McGeady and the vast majority of the funds were not re-invested into the first team, there would be a mutiny at Celtic Park.

If the current gap behind Rangers remains, Celtic may be looking to sell Aiden McGeady to make up for the short fall in another year without Champions League football.

Could the sale of McGeady bring Celtic better balance?

Celtic don’t need to sell AMcG.
However, they do need to bring in a proven penalty box goalgetter – and it needs to be done NOW.
Even paying over the odds on a loan deal until the end of the season would be acceptable.

Defense should improve with the arrival of JH, so the crital weakness remains the striker.

Celtic are in transition: major surgery is underway. However, none of that is an excuse. We need to get back to winning ways and quickly.

The AMcG situation (and others) will no doubt be addressed before next season. But, for me anyway, it shouldn’t even be on the agenda.

We were without 6 of the team that totally outplayed Rangers,we ended up with 3 wingers and devoid of any shape yet still relied on Lee naylor to provide crosses from the left,I dont blame Aiden McGeady for having one bad game and did I mention the linesman decided to waste time by accusing artur Boruc of handling outside the box? did I mention we were denied yet another penalty at the end?

Yes,we know its crucial that Rangers have to win the league this season for the potential Euro money,Alistair Johnson did make that cry for help very public.

    Celtic are paying for that.

How can anyone take an article about wether Celtic should cash in on Aiden McGready just now, to allow Tony Mhonobrow to strengthen other areas of the team and then turn it an Alistair Johnstone/SPL/SFA/ Referee conspiracy theory against Celtic. That really does show a high level of paranoia and I am amazed you even make it onto the internet without blaming your ISP for being biased.

    9titlesinthefirstdivision your are a buffoon.
