Lloyds administration causes problems for Rangers fans

by WeKnowSFA

Bin the bank protests take centre stage now

The midweek SPL fixtures have featured their usual vast array of talking points and it is unlikely the dust will settle too quickly. Not since Glen Campbell and Jimmy Webb combined to such devastating affect has a linesman in the (Lanarkshire) county been on everyone’s lips but that has already been highlighted on the site.

The BBC site has the match highlights for UK viewers, watch it yourself and make your own mind up.

Anyways, onwards and Rangers fans have to wait until Sunday to see their team in action again and it will be Valentines Day, a day when “love is all around“. Steven ‘Reg’ Pressley may be in charge of Falkirk by that time but the love that will be around Ibrox on Sunday will be all for the home club.

And the opposite of love is hate and there is likely to be plenty of that on show as well.

At High Noon, Rangers fans are said to be congregating to show their displeasure to Lloyds Banking Group and Donald Muir, the enemy within. It is said that Muir is a Rangers man, a close friend of former manager Alex McLeish but the Rangers fans cannot square that notion with what they are seeing happening.

It is difficult to say, purely because no one knows what is going on behind the scenes. For every opinion held by one fan, there can be a polar opposite view which isn’t too crazy. There will be a lot of anger and confusion at Ibrox but some communication may go a long way to sorting it out.

Some of the banner headings, some have appeared before, some are new, some could be total fiction and will never see the light of the day, include:

MURRAY, MUIR & LLOYDS BG
A MATCH MADE IN HELL

Donald Muir (the enemy within) remember the power of the “people

Rangers, worth fighting for!

Rangers Fans: being talked about, being talked down to, but not being talked to.

Love and passion – not loans and pounds

Muir = Director or Dictator?

David Murray the real enemy within

Some are a bit too long to be punchy on a banner but it will indicate the depth of feeling amongst Rangers fans at the moment but the wide ranging targets that are available to choose from indicates a couple of things.

No one really knows what is going on
and
There are many people and parties involved in this one.

At the moment, the Rangers fury seems aimed at Lloyds and the overwhelming feeling is one of bin the bank. Rangers fans can point to other clubs and institutions being allowed to pay off debt at a reduced rate but none of these companies are in the same position as Rangers.

Rangers are still very much a going concern and can bring in considerable sums.

With proper financial management, Rangers can repay off this debt but it is likely to lead to a few harsh on field seasons, which is after all the reason fans support football teams. Lloyds know that if they can stand their ground, they will get their money back, it just depends on how uncomfortable Rangers fans can make it on them and how much trouble David Murray is really in.

Some statements from MIH may make the situation a whole lot clearer for all involved but as for now, the pressure appears to be on the bank.

Also, these rumours that have been flying around Glasgow of late about administration. These are probably just made up by Orange, O2 and Vodafone to get people texting!

Will you be protesting at Ibrox on Sunday?

    Scooter,

it may be the one thing that some Celtic fans have left to cling to!

  • Dannybhoy

Scooter its just banter people have more important things to worry about than a football clubs finances ,like there own finances BTW would i be helping Rangers cause by closing my bank account with the large overdraught??????????

  • scooter

    Dannybhoy

To be honest you would be more than worried if you saw my personal finances, rangers look healthy compared to that bank statement!!

  • WeKnowSFA

    True Scooter.

And Rangers have the option of selling a player or two if they really need to make some quick money in the summer (which as they showed in January, they aren’t at that stage yet), all we have is a kidney to shift and there are not too many interested parties!

  • jazrfc

if i sold my wife i wouldnt make enough to get the bus into town to check my overdraught

  • Dannybhoy

Haha (no offence Jaz) – but if any of our readers want us to campaign on their behalf, let us know and we’ll see what we can do – supposedly the internet is the home of all crazy half-baked ideas these days…personally, we haven’t seen it!
