Lennon to join ex Celtic contingent at Boro?

Given the way that Gordon Strachan has came back to Scotland and notably Celtic to fill his playing squad, it may not be a surprise to see him do the same when he chooses to expand his backroom staff over the summer.

Colin Cooper has been involved with the first team squad at Middlesbrough under Strachan and he is one of the coaches who have been relieved of their duties. It is Cooper’s role that Lennon would be more likely to fill if he did go there.

However, would Neil Lennon want to go and work under another boss again, even if it is a boss he has previously worked under?

This short spell as manager will no doubt have whetted Neil Lennon’s appetite for being his own boss and he looks to remain his own man. At the moment, Neil Lennon will still consider he has a chance of getting the Celtic post and until he hears otherwise, he is unlikely to be interested in talk of moving away from the club.

However, if the Celtic PLC board decide that more experience is required, Lennon may rather he makes a move into club management in order to develop his CV. Lennon only has to look at the way Paul Lambert, his former midfield partner in crime, has taken to the management game with success. Lambert has guided Norwich back into the Championship and another strong showing from the Canaries will place Lambert in the position for jobs higher up the leagues.

With less than a week of the season to go, Neil Lennon has to focus on getting his Celtic team right for their final two matches, starting with tonight’s home match versus Rangers. There isn’t a lot at stake but it’s a match that neither team wants to lose.
