Kilmarnock continue progress under Calderwood
Two Jimmies having a positive impact

After the positive result against Celtic, it would have been easy to predict a defeat for Kilmarnock today. All too often, clubs that raise their performance levels in one match find that they struggle to repeat it in their next game and quite often struggle.
This is the hope that Terry Butcher and Inverness Caledonian Thistle would have carried to Rugby Park for the Active Nation 5th round tie.
The optimism didn’t last as Kilmarnock raced into a two goal lead by half-time. Colin Sammon netted the opener and Liam Kelly fired the ball home through a ruck of players to put the Ayrshire side 2-0 up.
Liam Kelly added his second and Killie’s third after the break to make the game safe and book the two Jimmy’s space in the next round of the cup.
Embarrassing defeats in the cup saw the end of Jimmy Calderwood at Pittodrie but the perma-tanned boss had his moments with Dunfermline. Entering the sixth round of the Cup is not only a boost to the club’s hope of grabbing some silverware; it could prove welcome respite from the relegation battle.
There is quite a tussle developing at the foot of the SPL and with Falkirk and Hamilton out of the Cup, Killie know they are the only team in the bottom three still battling on two fronts.
Calderwood may only be hanging around Rugby Park until the end of the season but survival and a Cup run would further enhance his reputation is Scottish football.
Can Killie get to Hampden?
