Jim Gannon hates people called Hugh

by WeKnowSFA

To see ourselves as others see us.

The Homecoming events in Scotland are in full swing and you can bet the work of Burns is being recited across the land this weekend.

You can probably take or leave much of the work of Rabbie Burns but the line “to see ourselves as others see us” should be a pertinent line. Especially for Scottish football.

When an outsider comes into the fold, they should be asked for their opinions on how the game is run and what they make of it all. Scottish football can be very insular, so having a fresh viewpoint can be of benefit.

This is exactly what Jim Gannon, Motherwell boss, has done and to be honest, the old guard aren’t too happy with it.

The screaming drama queens on Radio Clyde have already shrieked and shrilled at Gannon’s Motherwell matchday programme notes where he outlined his views on the commentators and analysts.

Hugh Keevins may not agree but his entire career is based upon winding folk up and getting them angry. He must be doing something right as virtually every Scottish football fan hates or disagrees with him but the shock tactics are beginning to wear a bit thin.

Gannon is right to point out that far too many people in Scottish football journalism take, take, take without giving anything positive or supportive back. We here at WeKnowSFA think that the Motherwell boss was right to speak up on that instance.

Of course though, managers don’t read the newspapers or listen to the phone-in though, do they?

The latest spat Gannon has become involved in is with the SFA and Hugh Dallas.

The SFA have responded to Gannon’s claims that Hugh Dallas has failed to respond to two letters the manager has written.

“Hugh Dallas accepts there was correspondence from Motherwell FC and the manager, and can confirm the letter was responded to within two days of it being received”

was the response from an SFA spokesman.

The Royal Mail strike has been over for a few weeks so that can’t be used as an excuse, maybe the Fir Park club needs to improve their mail-room facilities.

Either way, it is good to see someone coming into Scottish football and ruffling a few of the established feathers. Scottish football needs change and perhaps a shake-up of the old guard will bring this about.

Who do you think will fall foul of Jim Gannon next?

Haha, hard to argue with that Tommy!

The likeness to Ned Flanders is quite funny :)

Jim Gannon will continue to upset people and whilst I don’t agree with much of what he says, I’m delighted to see him wind these journeymen up.

    Thanks Chaplin.

For the moment, its just good to see (or hear) something new in Scottish football.

Also, if Motherwell had made a really poor start, no one would be giving him Gannon the time of day, if the ‘Well start to drift downwards, his views will come across as bitter.

Yeah….we’ll see if Jim’s views are still as bright and shiny in April or May but for now, more power to him!
