Is Jefferies getting the best deal for Hearts over Goncalves?
Jambo Jim playing tough over defender

On one hand, it is easy to see that Jefferies is attempting to get the best deal for Hearts and only wants players at Tynecastle that want to be at Tynecastle. As a man with Jambos in his blood, having a player mess Hearts about will not be acceptable.
However, some of the statements made by Jefferies may not be helpful in creating a stable and positive spirit in the dressing room.
Goncalves is not the only Hearts player out of contract at the end of the season, Michael Stewart and Christian Nade are also free agents this summer.
However, Jefferies has no problems with playing these two and his reasons may not be music to the ears of Nade and Stewart.
“Other boys are out of contract but I’ve not made any decision about them.”
“I’ve seen Jose Goncalves play and he’s a good young player.”
It is not as if Jefferies has come to Hearts from another country and is unsure about the players.
Ayrshire may seem like a different planet at times but Kilmarnock are SPL mainstays and Jefferies has been present for what seems like forever. He will know full well what Stewart and Nade have to offer but the comments seem to indicates that Goncalves is the player that he rates.
Whether the decision is based on vibes and attitude as opposed to skill and talent, Jefferies has possibly created a stir in the dressing room. Surely Stewart and Nade will questioning if the manager thinks that they are good players and whether they want to be playing under him.
Management is a fine line and at times it can seem as though child psychology is as important as tactics and formations but it will be interesting to see the upshot of Jefferies actions. It may be the sort of move to bring the Hearts dressing room together or it could make a disjointed unit seem even further apart.
Either way, Jefferies will be glad to get back to match action and even though his Hearts team have lost their last two games, would anyone be shocked if they avoided defeat at Celtic Park?
Hearts have saved some of their best performances of the season for Tony Mowbray’s men and anyone who can predict which Celtic side will turn up is a far better pundit than any currently in employment in Scotland.
Match action may provide a welcome break for the Jambos.
How would you deal with a problem like Jose?
