Hibs make a stand for the fans…and against the SFA

East Terrace says goodbye and Liam Miller will be there

Liam Miller has had his red card rescinded making him available for selection against St Johnstone at Easter Road. The match will be the last game where Hibs fans get to use the East Terrace in its current guise so the inclusion of Miller will be of benefit to a team looking for all three points.

Hibs need to get back to winning ways after what was a terrible week for the club with three defeats in 7 days. The fact that Miller was sent off at Fir Park may have had an impact on their last defeat so Hibs fans will still be aggrieved at the decision but at least they can see that some form of justice has been done.

That was one victory for Hibs against the SFA but they may be struggling with the other battle they are looking to take on. John Hughes was sent to the stands during the 5-1 drubbing at McDiarmid Park and is looking at a 6 game ban, due to previous indiscretions whilst Hughes was boss at Falkirk.

Hughes is not too happy at the length of the ban.

“I don’t see why Hibs should be punished for something I did three years ago.”

“But I am big enough and man enough – and if I have to take it on the chin and get on with it then so be it.”

Hughes makes the point that Hibs are being punished for what he did at Falkirk but that isn’t the issue. If a player moves between clubs with a suspension hanging over them, their new club is the one that loses out, so it’s the same for the management.

If Hibs can make an argument that the suspension awarded to Hughes was too strict or unjust, they could have a case but if their defence rests on Hughes was banned at Falkirk then it should be thrown out.

Six games is a large chunk of the season so you can see why Hibs are railing against the decision but with the current rules, they may be doomed to failure.

Will Hibs see off the East Terrace with a win?
