Hibs rout Hamilton at Easter Road
Revenge for New Douglas Park defeat

Some of the hype surrounding John Hughes team has died away but Hibs are still in the running to challenge the big two from Glasgow. A comfortable home win against Hamilton Academicals moved them just behind Celtic.
Yes, Hibs have a game more than their Glaswegian counterparts but points on the board can be more advantageous than games in hand.
Hibs were motoring from the start with Hamilton possibly feeling the effects of 120 minutes at Ibrox on Tuesday. Hamilton certainly looked off the pace in extra time in that match, making this a perfect time for Hibs to face them.
Colin Nish grabbed his first goal since October to put the Leith side 1-0 up and the lead was soon doubled when Anthony Stokes grabbed another goal for the Edinburgh side. Stokes has a tremendous goal scoring record in the SPL with his time at Falkirk and now Easter Road, with this strike being his 12th of the season.
It was 3-0 on the half hour mark when Derek Riordan prodded home the rebound after Tomas Cerny tipped a Stokes effort onto the bar. And it was Riordan who further increased Hibs lead in the second half, making it 4-0 from a free-kick.
Anthony Stokes wasn’t going to let a rival striker take the glory away from him and the Irish striker was soon celebrating Hibs fifth goal of the afternoon.
Hamilton at least managed to get on the scoreline with Flavio Paixo, who had just replaced his twin Marco, making it 5-1 but it wasn’t as if the comeback was on. Hibs had taken their foot off the gas slightly but with such a thrilling show for the first hour, it would be churlish to criticise.
