Hamilton on a high
It’s good to be an Accies fan these days

Two wins in a row is a great return for Hamilton but when you consider they beat Hearts at home and then Aberdeen at Pittodrie, which is tremendous. Two 2-1 victories has left all Accies fans feeling on top form and has left the club two points off Aberdeen and sixth place.
The fact that the SPL splits into two at the end of three rounds means that finishing in top 6 is something worth playing for. It ensures that relegation is not an issue and also brings at least one home match versus Celtic or Rangers. With every penny being vital for SPL clubs, the gap between finishing sixth and seventh is fairly important.
Once you make the top six of the split, the lowest you will finish is sixth even if the club in 7th earns more points. With each higher placing earning each team a greater slice of money, every point is vital.
Hamilton will still be saying that avoiding relegation is the most important issue for them this season. Ensuring there is SPL football next season has to be the aim but with so many teams stuck together at the foot of the SPL, a bit of ambition may go a long way.
What is most pleasing about Hamilton’s victory is that they bounced back after Aberdeen got back on level terms. Taking a half-time lead was a huge bonus for the Accies but when Gary McDonald equalised with 15 minutes to go, only one team looked like winning.
However, Hamilton stunned the hosts when they regained their lead through James Wesolowski with ten minutes to go.
Even though they lost first choice goalie Tomas Cerny at half-time, Hamilton held on their advantage.
Next up for Hamilton are Dundee United at home and if they can take 9 points in a row, things will really look positive for Hamilton Academicals.
Hamilton fans, what are your hopes for this season?
