Famous five to a silly six for Hughes and Hibs
What’s the matter Yogi?

About this time of year, the SPL starts to worry about the top six but Hibees will be considering a rather bad six. Manager John Hughes was given a six game touchline ban and his appeal against this decision has since been turned down.
The former Falkirk boss will be allowed to take his place in the dug-out at Tynecastle and then at Victoria Park on Tuesday but after that, he will be absent for 6 games.
Wouldn’t it be great if Hughes did a Jose Mourinho and hid in his team’s laundry basket to sneak into the dressing room to provide them with crucial tips and information.
Even more so because the touchline ban in Scotland doesn’t include the dressing room so this would be rather pointless. Amazing…but pointless.
The calming (calming?) influence of Hughes on the touchline may be a loss to the Hibernian players but the motivation of a high SPL finish should surely be enough to motivate them on.
You wonder at times just how much influence a manager has on a game anyway and no doubt Brian Rice will be well prepped by Hughes in advance of certain scenarios and situations.
Hughes and Hibs seem annoyed about the fact that Yogi’s conduct at Falkirk has caused this large ban. This is due to the regulations contained within the disciplinary procedures document, which can be read here.
As this is Hughes’ third report of misconduct, the punishment is a 6 match ban from the technical area.
Some will complain about the harshness of this but at least there are clear guidelines about the offence and punishment. The same cannot be said when bookings are allocated points according to their nature, which the referee can seemingly apply at will.
Will Hibs keep up the good fight without Hughes on the touchline?
