Enjoyment the word at Celtic Park

by WeKnowSFA

Tony Mowbray’s bhoy’s hit the heights.

It was the last match at Celtic Park before Christmas and Celtic gave their fans a present with a 3-0 defeat of Aberdeen.

To say that the scoreline flattered Aberdeen would be a big understatement. Celtic twice hit the post, twice had efforts cleared off the line and found Aberdeen goalkeeper Jamie Langfield in fine form.

The first half saw Aberdeen play in a dogged and determined fashion, offering little in advance areas of the park but working hard to stop Celtic making chances.

The best effort came from Danny Fox who ran over half the length of the pitch before drawing a good save from Langfield but the goal was coming.

A defence splitting pass from Marc Crosas played in Andy Hinkel and the German teed up Scott McDonald to fire Celtic in front at half-time.

The second half was one way traffic and Greek striker Samaras managed to notch two goals as Celtic earned a three nil win. The style of play and constant attacking style managed to warm the fans on a cold December day and the post match mood was upbeat.

Fans relying on Radio Clyde for match updates would have felt that Aberdeen were hard done by with the red card of Jerel Ifill. The player clearly kicked out at Samaras after a tussle but for some reason, the pundits were outraged at this but Dons boss Mark McGhee was more honest;

“It was stupid, reckless and unnecessary.
“It cost us a chance of getting back into the game. It gave us no chance.”

Celtic were two up and cruising at this point and there was no real way back for Aberdeen but this ended the match as a contest.

Three Celtic Park wins in the past week has given Tony Mowbray some time and credit from the fans but it could all change again quickly.

Have Celtic turned the corner?
