Dundee United progress and keep under the radar
Not headline grabbing but a wins a win

Dundee United have had two away ties in the Active Nation Scottish Cup so far but they have overcame both with the minimum of fuss. St Johnstone may think their efforts on Wednesday against Rangers at Hampden dampened their ability to perform today but united deserved their win.
Once again, Peter Houston is staking a claim for the United job on a more permanent basis and continued success will stand in his favour. Mind you, Gordon Chisholm did similar at United and in the end, he wasn’t in charge for too much longer.
That won’t worry anyone of a Tangerine persuasion tonight though and yet again, they have goal-machine Goodwillie to thank.
Another thing that is working in United’s favour is that they appear to be getting the breaks, vital in any cup competition. There was a controversial moment in United’s win over Partick Thistle when it appeared a hand was used in the build up to United’s clinching second goal.
At McDiarmid Park, St Johnstone could have reasonable complaints about a foul on Graeme Smith for United’s goal. David Goodwillie acted like all good strikers though and buried the ball without waiting for any decision.
Goodwillie is in a good run of form at the moment and the player may well force his way into the Scottish set-up under former club boss Craig Levein.
With a team scoring 9 goals, Aberdeen grabbing a late equaliser and Rangers drawing, Dundee United will not be grabbing much attention for this win but that wont bother the Arabs. An away cup win against a fellow SPL team? It doesn’t get much better than that and United fans can look forward to the 6th round draw on Sunday.
Is Hampden calling for United fans?
