Duffy to Hibs sees Stokes move to Celtic?
Transfer moves slotting into place?
Everyone knows that it takes one or two transfers to get things moving and it seems as though one move that has went through in Scotland may be a factor in another going through later on today.
There has been a lot of talk about Anthony Stokes moving from Hibs to Celtic but with the transfer deadline approaching, Hibs needed to ensure they had adequate replacements to keep their team fighting near the top of the SPL.
Rod Petrie has did extremely well at the club but money in the bank is not much of a comfort to fans if the product on the pitch isn’t good enough. The loan capture of Darryl Duffy from Bristol Rovers sees John Hughes add to his striking options.
Hughes managed Duffy at Falkirk so he knows exactly what he is bringing in and this may well see Stokes head along the M8 in a fashion that has been played out so many times before.
Hibs really should name their new stand in a Weegie style after the funding from the Glasgow clubs who have taken so many players from them in the past.
The current buzz on the internet – with the Celtic Underground rumours twitter passing on info they’ve heard – is that Stokes is undergoing a Celtic medical at the moment.
Until the player is signed and is pictures holding a scarf above his head, most fans are wary of accepting a deal is done (and quite right too) but this transfer looks like a goer.
Does this mean the Robbie Keane to Celtic move is dead? Was it ever on? If Stokes comes, will he play alongside Gary Hooper or will they be competing? Is it a 4-4-2 for Celtic? If so, will this see Shaun Maloney shunted back out wide?
So many questions….we’d better get writing!
Hibbes and Hoops – happy with these moves?

A last minute snatch for robbie keane could be on the cards……we all think this wont happen because a loan deal is not possible anymore as it makes no sense to spurs… but if spurs recieved the right amount of cash the deal ‘could’ happen…..maybe dermot will pay the transfer fee at the last hour?…..maybe we’ve see the last of keano?……
We may be totally wrong (we usually are) but the comments that Keane made at the tail-end of his time at Celtic about the pitches in Scotland suggested to us he was in no rush to come back.
However, if he has no other options, he may find he needs to come back to Scotland.
Like last year, the Scottish window shuts after the English one so you may well see another late dash for Keane.
Sky Sports News reporting a fee has been agreed between Hibs and Celtic for Anthony Stokes.
£1.2m
The Keane deal wont happen, he’s done his bit by playing for the team he supported as a boy, well after Liverpool, Spurs and Wolves that is. What can Celtic offer him now? No European football and a dogfight with Rangers for the title, he will either stay at Spurs and play a bit part players role with Spurs now fighting on several fronts, Honest Arry will want to keep him in the squad, failing that he will sign for another EPL side, cause let’s be honest, that’s where it’s at for these boys.
As for Stokes, reasonable signing for a proven SPL striker. Perhaps he peaked last season with Hibs, or perhaps he will step up again and go onto be Celtics answer to Kris Boyd and the domestic goals he scored for them. One thing is for sure, the slimming down of the Celtic wage bill is now in process, big earners like Fortune and most likely Samaras will be moved on and lesser paid players brought in their place. That’s not to say the player is of lesser ability though.
keane wont happen now but we have a strong team now so we should do the treble this season and i think stokes is a good signing him and hooper up front when hooper is fit i think we should get ride of samaras he crap he played well when lennon said he was up for sale and now lennon said he going no where he plaing crap we should get a perment keeper instead of that zaluska he is the worst keeper i have seen if forster does well we should get him he played well in the motherwell match
The treble Joseph, that’s a pretty bold statement to make for a team that’s not won a trophy for a couple of years now.
Tell me what’s giving you the cause for optimism please?
Celtic have only went one season without a trophy.
The league cup only counts if it’s part of a treble Ed !! LOL
Now Official – Republic of Ireland Striker Anthony Stokes has moved to Celtic from Hibernian, no fee mentioned on the Celtic website.

Celtic were also given a Home time against Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the third round of the CIS League Cup, the game will be played on the 21st or 22nd of September.
I’ll be the new Robbie Keane
I’ll fire the goals that will win the SPL for Celtic
Strong words from the young man, does he have the Cajones to back up the words or is it to be banked in the crazy predictions of Samaras hall of fame?
