Celtic: Danny Fox off to Burnley?
Radio Clyde say player on his way

It was possibly due to the tattoos and the fact that he looked a bit mental but the Celtic crowd warmed to Danny Fox very quickly last summer. Then again, it was maybe the fact that after Mo Camara and Lee Naylor, anything would have been preferable.
Initial impressions were good but after an injury, Danny Fox has struggled in the Celtic back-line and has been culpable for some of the goals lost by the sieve-like defence. Fox should certainly have stopped a number of crosses from coming into the box.
That said, Tony Mowbray likes his full-backs to push on and support the attacking play and this may have played a part in Fox being caught out of position on occasions. Fox could certainly gets balls into the opposition box but his dead-ball specialism never come to the fore.
Radio Clyde announced that Celtic have accepted a bid from Burnley and the player is travelling down to discuss terms. There were also rumours that Birmingham City enquired about the player last week.
Given the current injury crisis Celtic have, they shouldn’t be looking to off-load Fox, then again, Fox is one of the players that are currently injured so he is unavailable for selection.
If Fox does go, the money received for him may go to strengthening another part of the team but the Celtic fans will despair if they are reliant on Lee Naylor once again.
There was talk of Charlie Mulgrew last week and the player is out of contract this summer. Celtic may use the Fox fund, get Mulgrew in on the cheap and use the remainder of the money to pay for Rasmussen or another potential target.
The Mulgrew suggestion is purely a flier but it does add up when you consider it.
He is a full-back who likes to bomb forward and his defensive play is suspect. You get the impression Mulgrew will fit right in with the current Celtic back-line. Wallace of Hearts could be another suggestion but he would likely cost more than Mulgrew.
No doubt more news will follow on this matter but if Fox departs, what about the fans who got FOX 11 on the back of their kit? And don’t forget the bars and nightclubs of Glasgow, will Fox’s replacement be able to make up for their loss of income?
Unlike the vast majority of clubs, Celtic have been making signings this January but you can see they are funding a large part of it by selling off current players. It is just strange that Fox is allegedly for the off as he is a Mowbray signing?
Perhaps the manager feels he can gain better value for the team by offloading his summer acquisition and shuffling things around?
Will you miss Danny Fox?

Oh No! What has he done, he must have fallen foul of the mangement or something, but I’d hate to see him go. Needs a bit of coaching in defensive play but as good a left back as we have had since Mahe. Danny looked to be fitting in just fine and it would be hard to judge him right now after injury. Don’t like the sound of this.
It could be a flier JP – just going with the news from Clyde…who knows, even if he does go down there, he may not agree terms or decide they are the team for him.
It has certainly been an interesting transfer window at Celtic and theres still a week to go!!
Fox is a duffer. He has no pace and cant defend and his ‘legendary left foot’ must still be in Coventry. Good on Tony Mowbray for fixing a mistake ealy doors. Now if we can just offload Naylor to Ipswich and get Kilbane and either Mulgrew or Wallace that would do for me.

Could you please tell me the goals Danny Fox has cost Celtic this season?
Cheers.
From top of the head, first goal away to Motherwell (although Boruc and Caldwell were poor), the cross should never have came in from the left – Fox was weak on the winger.
got to agree with biggus, Fox is no better than naylor! weak in defence and 1 decent cross in every 10!
He was also massively out of position leading him to foul Nade in the League Cup tie against Hearts – giving Hearts the penalty which knocked Celtic out.
Dont get us wrong – that game, Celtic squandered tons of chances and the strikers should have bailed Fox out.
Fox was also just back from injury that game.
All of the Celtic defenders have been culpable for goals this season – Fox is by no means the worst candidate but his defensive skills have been lacking on numerous occasions.
No way will he be leaving in this window.TM is not the type of man to admit mistakes, and this guy was a mistake.
im leaving i fell out with squidward
It’s a little harsh to blame Fox for that goal v Motherwell.
He let a cross into the box, Boruc should have dealt with it easily.
Fox did well to force the winger wide and the cross was tame.
He has been a very good signing for Celtic. He strolled through the Old Firm match.
The article is a little over the top. It suggests that Fox has been shipping goals left right and centre and that is simply not the case.
Fox best left back since Mahe cant be all that good then,Mahe was good going forward but defensively average IMHO
St Mirren are looking to offload Mo Camara?
Hahaha, ok, we’ll stop there!
