Mowbray battling Coyle once again?

It may just be an indication of where agents believe Celtic to lie in comparison to English Premier League clubs but there is talk that Celtic and Burnley are battling for the attention of Monaco striker Frederic Nimani.

The People newspaper ran with the story that Coyle is close to bringing in the striker on loan, with a view to clinching a permanent deal.

However, it appears that Mowbray has invited the player to Celtic for talks, again with a loan deal being a good option for club and player.

Tony Mowbray has talked up the benefits of loan deals, especially during the January transfer window, as a way of letting club and player get used to each other. The relative success of Landry N’Guemo so far at Celtic Park indicates that loan deals can be of benefit.

The striker, measuring up at 6’4”, is a French Under-21 internationalist and a permanent deal may be outwith the budget of Celtic. Some sources say that £4m is the figure that would be required to finalise any move.

However, a loan deal to Celtic for the title run-in could be of great benefit to club and player and should at least be considered.

With Burnley having the EPL money and the lure of playing some big teams, they may well start favourites but the opportunity to be involved at the top of the table may be an attraction for Nimani.

This footage sees the striker peeling off at the back post and applying a neat volleyed finish for his club side.
