Just when you think you can relax after the window closing, the players who are not attached to a club are being lined up for moves and deals. International week has probably lowered some of the demand and deals but it looks as though one or two players are edging closer to joining a new club.

Which is good news for fans who felt their team hadn’t strengthened fully and bad news for any websites that stupidly spent loads of time examining a team’s squad after the closure of the transfer window.

The Herald has comments attributed to a Celtic insider (ooooh) saying;

“Shittu is a player of considerable experience and he has a bit of pace, which is missing from the heart of the defence.”

“The player has explained he will make a decision early in the week, so it will depend on what other offers he has on the table and the financial package the club are willing to offer to him.”

We looked closely at the Celtic defence and still felt it needed a bit of strengthening because Glen Loovens is rubbish and the rest of the centre backs are untested at the level Celtic need them to perform at.

Shittu, whist having never played in Scotland, has played at a reasonable level in England for many years and was a transfer target for Rangers not so long ago.

Being available as a freebie means there will be no transfer outlay so even if the defender has wage demands, which appeared to scupper any move to Ibrox, these may be offset by the lack of transfer outlay?

Shittu is another big lad and if he can add a touch of pace alongside big Dan at the back for Celtic, it could instantly help the team, give talents like Thomas Rogne time to develop and perhaps ease the nerves of the Celtic faithful!
