Celtic lie in wait for Victoria Park winners

by WeKnowSFA

Land of hope and glory-aah for Ross County or Hibs

This midweek’s Scottish Cup Quarter Final replays will finally see the semi-final fixtures settled. The Scottish Cup has not quite been devalued in the manner that the FA Cup has in England and all teams will be desperate for a final flourish at Hampden in May.

Celtic fans will take a particular interest in the Victoria Park clash between Ross County and Hibs. The Glasgow side lie in wait for the winner of this tie, which remains too tight to call.

Hibs should start favourites but the Easter Road side have been off the boil of late. They were fortunate to get a draw in the home tie and come into this game on the back of a disappointing derby day defeat at Tynecastle.

It could go either way for Hibs. They could come out roaring looking to avenge their recent poor showings or the form-book could be indicative of a slump.

For Ross County, well, the stakes have been upped. No one really gave them much of a chance at Easter Road but now they are at home, there will be an expectancy upon them from their fans.

Also, with their name being in the draw for the semi-final, it makes it all a little bit more real. The tangible reward for victory at Victoria Park is a Hampden clash versus Celtic live on Sky Sports.

County fans still have one eye on the First Division title with their two games in hand giving them a chance to draw level with Dundee. The sacking of Jocky “Teckle” Scott will have County fans hoping for an implosion from the Dens Park side but they may have concerns over how it will affect Leigh Griffith’s blog. Either way, their focus tonight is on the big cup clash.

We are no good at predictions so don’t look to us for any advice but with extra-time and penalties available if it’s a draw after 90 minutes, it has the potential to be a long evening.

It’s a great Tuesday morning and tonight’s game is at Victoria Park…so here is The Fall with their cover of ‘Victoria’ by The Kinks.
