Celtic have been a charity act at times this season
Oxfam Scotland and the club are teaming up

You could say that Celtic have been doing a lot of charitable work all season. They’ve been dishing out points and goals to all and sundry this season and they have been doing a lot to preserve the financial wellbeing of their city neighbours Rangers.
Wonderful work from a club that was set up with charitable intentions!
Of course, their fans haven’t been too impressed with that style of charity work but the latest move from Celtic should be viewed as a positive issue.

Poverty in Africa has been a cause that the world has been aware of for the past few decades and although great work has been done, the situation is still pretty dire for many. The World Cup in South Africa will hopefully show the great elements of the game and the continent but Africa is huge and there will be many areas not on the radar this summer.
Any Celtic fan going along to the game against Dundee United should be aware that there will be an Oxfam van parked up beside the Celtic superstore where donations can be dropped in for sale at Oxfam shops. As you would expect, books, cds and clothes will be gratefully accepted.
They probably won’t take Lee Naylor though…sorry hoops fans.
It is a good step and it will hopefully help some people be more aware of the situation and will get a few people acting to assist.
Okay, it is probably a bad day if some people need a football team to tell there that is wrong in the world and to encourage them to help out but every little helps and again, it should be viewed as a positive thing.

Celtic FC have MANY MANY charitable organisations and initiatives on the go and ALWAYS HAVE.
It’s just such a pity that “some people” see something good happening, people going out their ways to help others in need, and feel it necessary to find a negative spin!!
I don’t know whether it’s more sad or sick, but it sure ain’t funny!
I hope the event is a massive success as the generosity of the Celtic support is well known as has been proven in the last couple of months, yet again.
Well done to both Oxfam & Celtic for this initiative, I’m sure a great many worthy people will benefit from it!
Ps. The “Charitable intentions” Celtic were set up for was to feed the children dying daily on the streets of Glasgow from starvation (the starvation of children is no less important in Africa than it is in Scotland), while the clubs with less “charitable intentions” would have gladly watched them rot!!
well said max people should remember “It is better to give than to receive”.With regard to negativity i am afraid that is a bit of a scottish way we seem to fopcus on negatives rather than be more positive. One of the reasons i stopped buying newspapers was because of this, people need to read the book of widom & come to better agreements & they will be more positive about life.
Charitable foundations? oh dear don’t you know their history.
Oh yes we do.
NedStevens,
