Celtic bring Sol Campbell to Glasgow
English stopper having a look

We wouldn’t really say we are like the BBC…for many reasons…but there are some similarities. For one, we both steal breaking new stories from internet message boards. The difference being, we’ll admit to that.
Suppose that’s the difference of not being licence fee funded – we feel the need to be honest in what we do.
Anyways, the talk of Glasgow town is that Sol Campbell is in Glasgow and he’ll be having talks with Partick Thistle…hold on, Celtic.
No doubt Sol Campbell will want a hefty wage, and maybe a 2 year contract, to uproot to the SPL but if he signs on, his experience may be invaluable to Celtic. Neil Lennon knows he needs leaders on the park and Campbell may be the man to pull the Celtic back-line together.
It’s been funny – the usual suspects of baggage handlers, airport staff and taxi drivers have been circulating text messages of who arrived in Glasgow this morning but the talk about Campbell has been circulating for a while. We said when Neil Lennon got back from holiday expect things to start moving and this appears to be the case now.
There is no indication that Campbell will sign or not sign, there will still be medicals and who knows how many loose ends to tie up. However, the appearance of Campbell in Glasgow to look around the stadium and Lennoxtown is positive news for a fanbase still in need of a lift.
At 35 years old, Campbell is a few years younger than SPL Player of the Year Davie Weir but whether he can adapt to the hustle and bustle of the Scottish game after the more refined style of Arsenal and of Notts Couty remains to be seen.
So again, no actual signing news…sorry…but the SPL may be lurching back into life – with a break from the World Cup in the next few days, we’ll try to do a few round-ups of the SPL clubs and see where we are.

Sol Campbell at Celtic Park for a tour around Glasgow!
Dailly Express says that he is off back home to mull over his options with Arsenal probably still his favoured choice. He has also challenged Celtic as to what their European ambitions are and wants to know before agreeing to any move.
Can be viewed on newsnow
There was always the risk that Campbell may just have been using Celtic as a bargaining tool to get a better deal elsewhere.
If Arsenal stick to their policy of a one year contract for over 30s, Campbell may find a 2 year contract at Celtic to be more attractive.
Who knows…the talk is of Mulgrew having finalised his deal, so we’ll see what happens next.
Read on newsnow also that Celtic are weighing up a bid for Stokes if the Murphy deal falls through. not seen much of Murphy to be honest, but if I had the choice I would go for Stokes. proven striker in the SPL now at both Falkirk and Hibs, many more chances at Celtic would see him being a real success.
Sol Campbell was quoted as saying “Celtic will win the league or finish 2nd. What I am interested in is their ambitions for Europe”.
I am sure Celtic’s ambitions for Europe (despite the downsizing) will certainly surpass those of Notts County.
I hope he is not using Celtic as a bargaining tool in order to get a 2 year contract from Arsenal.
Either way, Celtic need an answer long before Sol is talking about. I would love to see him at Parkhead but we can’t afford to sit and wait for too long and miss the boat on other potential targets.
