Celtic to appoint Lennon? Rumours start to build
Hoops closing in on new boss?

In the past few hours both The Guardian and the Celtic Underground site have published articles saying that Neil Lennon is moving closer to being appointed Celtic manager on a permanent basis.
The Guardian state that Martin O’Neill has recommended Neil Lennon be given the post.
If Lennon is given the job, it is likely that Alan Thompson will leave his post at Newcastle and come back to Glasgow to assist the former Northern Irish international. The man fans called Thommo knew how to stick it to Rangers and the Celtic fans will be hoping he can help instil a fighting spirit that has been missing at Celtic Park in the past two seasons.
8 wins out of 8 league games helped Neil Lennon stake a claim for the post but many felt that the Scottish Cup semi-final loss to Ross County would scupper his chances. The post match interview delivered by Lennon after the Hampden defeat pulled no punches and if he does get the job, some players should be concerned about their Celtic future.
Lennon made it very clear that certain players had no business being at Celtic Park but whether they managed to do enough in the post split fixtures to convince Lennon will be answered over the summer.
Neil Lennon managed the club to another victory tonight with Paddy McCourt and Morten Rasmussen scoring the goals that gave Celtic a 2-0 win over St Pauli. End of season friendlies are even less reliable than pre-season friendlies when it comes to gauging the true merit or value of the team but it was the last chance Lennon had to stake his claim.
With Celtic facing a tough Champions League third round qualifier at the end of July, the sooner the new boss can get to work and reconstruct his team the better for all connected with Celtic.
Would you give Lennon the job?

ofcourse lennon should get the job, it would be disgusting if the board gave it to some one else.
what good did tony’s experience bring ??????????
It would be crazy to give Lennon the job. Is everyone forgetting that he has no experience. Eight meaningless matches do not count. We need an experienced manager not a novice no matter how much of a Celtic man he is.
Lenny for me
If Lenny was the 1st choice all along why hasn’t he been appointed as of yet? If he does get the job in the near future then it merely smacks of “You’ll do. We couldn’t get anybody else.” Why would he want to take the job in those circumstances?
I’m still hoping the board show some ambition and initiative. Maybe I’m clutching at straws. I know Lenny talks a good game, says all the right things and bleeds green and white but the last thing we need right now to sort out the mess is a complete rookie, and that’s exactly what Lenny is in managerial terms. With the Steven Reid link, is it possible that Trappatoni might be in place as well with Lenny? Why would Celtic be going after players without a manager in place? Trappatoni has worked with him with the Republic. I could at least get my head around that arrangement.
BTW, all these transfer links over the last couple of days (Reid, Sol Campbell, Jimmy Bullard). Season ticket renewals aren’t in the process of being issued are they?
We approve of your cynicsm BSW!
As for Reid, the PLC board would gladly sanction the Bosman signing of an Irish international?
It’s about time Celtic started investigating that lucrative Irish Market.
put lenny in charge wi trappatonni upstairs and brake the bank to bring in the irish bhoys doyle, lawrence, st leger and duff . lets get celtic back were we belong. forget cambell far too old way past his best spend for the future
Cynical?!? Aye, YOU would say that wouldn’t you?
As for Reid, I think this guy would be a great Bosman signing IF he stays relatively injury free. But what if the new manager doesn’t fancy him at all? We need answers NOW or preferably yesterday!
The Irish market is definitely one to go after but only after we have secured the lucrative Tasmanian and Cuban markets where we can sell jerseys ahoy! (And bring in Castro as our new chairman)
A cheap appointment, designed to appease a certain section of ‘fans’ (ie PLC shills desperately trying to convince fans that this is an appointment welcomed by the majority of other ‘fans’)
Terrible appointment if it happens.
