Celtic agree a fee for young gun slinger Lee Wallace

Radio Clyde broke the news about Danny Fox supposedly being away and the radio station have announced that Celtic and Hearts have agreed a fee for left back Lee Wallace. The station hasn’t been the same without Tiger Tim Stevens but they are on a good run of form at the moment.
If only they could shoot everyone involved with Super Scoreboard, it would be a start.
Depending on the fee, Celtic may have a little bit more in the kitty to add to a squad that still needs strengthening as the late reversal against Hibs on Wednesday proved.
Wallace has earned rave reviews for Hearts in recent years and has performed strongly against Aiden McGeady, and has earned a call-up to the Scotland squad. Ironically enough, as has Danny Fox, who is the player on the way out of Celtic Park.
This may annoy some fans who would have preferred young Hoops player Paul Caddis to get a run at left back but that wouldn’t be bad. Caddis performed manfully in the position against Hibs but the amount of times he decided to pass the ball with the outside of his right foot as opposed to a simple pass with his left was concerning.
It was like an opposite Barry Robson!
This shouldn’t be viewed as a criticism of Paul Caddis who hasn’t let Celtic down at any point but a proper left back is required to improve the back four.
Like a lot of youngsters, Wallace has a colourful moment or two in his past but if he moves to Celtic, the Green Brigade and the rest of the young bucks will take him to their heart. No doubt there will be a few songs ready to be unveiled in the players honour!

1930 EDIT: Well, it appears to have went a bit quiet with Radio Clyde backtracking a bit from their lunchtime statement. That is not to say the deal is dead but there is likely to be a bit more toing and froing before any deal is concluded.
Celtic will be mindful of what they are doing with Danny Fox and if he leaves, he will need to be replaced. If he goes before being replaced, it will put Hearts in a stronger bargaining position.
It could also be that other clubs are in for Wallace and a bidding war could ensue. Some newspapers down south are saying that Gordon Strachan may have an interest and was at Tynecastle last night. This is true but SSN have reported he was viewing Lee Miller, theyre basis for that was the fact that Gordon Strachan and Mark McGhee were seen chatting after the match.
Which is fair enough because what else would these good friends and ex team-mates ever have to talk about?

Agreed Sean, it wasnt a criticism of Caddis but if you play a right sided player on the left, it is inevitable it will happen.
There were one or two occasions where it slowed down Celtic breaking
I don’t think that even William Wallace could install the passion that is undoubtedly lacking in the majority of the Celtic players at the moment & that is what will ultimately result in Rangers regaining the title in May.
Why are so many of my Celtic fans throwing in the towel. Have a bit of frickin pride and back your team up. 10 points can be closed. We have 1 problem, yes only ONE we cant put the frickin ball in the net. If we fix that then Rangers would be exposed as how bad they really are, we should be storming this league if it werent for that fact.

Lee Wallace, Celtic could be doing with William Wallace, perhaps even Mel Gibson could do a job him being an Uber Catholic would no doubt endear him to the ‘Jolly Craicsers’ in the Green Brigade.
As for the player, looks like a decent sort and one that could improve Celtics defence, although I still believe that the problems lie in the Centre Half positions and the calamitous Boruc in goals.
Be interesting to see what fee is involved as we all know Romanov’s disdain for the Old Firm and his ability to squeeze as much as he can out of a deal.
I disagree Quagmire, Romanov has done Celtic favours in the past and he will do it again, him and Liewell have something going on. Im glad they are losing Fox, he was a decent player, maybe not as fast as Wallace, but much better. Like i said before, Moggas making the team worse with every new signing. Its all good.
