Celtic, Aberdeen, Hamilton and Buddies face fixture chaos
Scottish Cup ties take precedence
The SPL have been quick to state the guidelines in light of any further postponements of matches in this weekend’s Active Nation Scottish Cup. The same can be said of any matches that go to a replay.
Iain Blair of the SPL said;
“We have made it clear to the Scottish FA and our clubs that the Active Nation Scottish Cup ties in which they may be involved will take priority over our matches in the event of postponements or replays in the 4th Round.”
This means that SPL re-arranged matches on the 12/13th or 19th/20th January could be postponed yet again if Scottish Cup ties need to be played.
The SPL matches for these dates are:
12th Jan
St Mirren v Aberdeen
13th Jan
Hamilton v Dundee United
19th Jan
Aberdeen v Falkirk
Hamilton v St Mirren
20th Jan
Kilmarnock v Celtic
St Johnstone v Hibs
The relevant Scottish Cup ties for these teams are:
Aberdeen v Hearts
Forfar v St Johnstone
Hibernian v Irvine Meadow
Kilmarnock v Falkirk
Morton v Celtic
Partick Thistle v Dundee United
St Mirren v Alloa
Hamilton v Rangers
It would not be a surprise to see any of these games postponed or end in a tie, so make sure you know what game you are going to if your team is involved in the midweek action!
Would a winter break help?
