Now its Boyd NOT to sit out Rangers v Celtic match

Ibrox top scorer gets a reprieve for February 28th clash

A booking in the first half against Hibs looked to have taken Kris Boyd through the disciplinary threshold and, according to the BBC, the player was set to miss out on the forthcoming Celtic v Rangers match at the end of the month.

However, it was later revealed that the player was booked for obstruction and not elbowing his opponent. This meant that the penalty points picked up for the booking was only two points and not three.

This lower points tally means that the striker is still below the disciplinary threshold and the lesson of the day has been learned by us….and not the player.

Frankly, taking the BBC for advice and information is akin to asking John Terry for advice on how to maintain a happy marriage….mind you, he looks to be having a decent enough time in Dubai this week….if only our luck went like that!

So anyhoos, apologies for the misinformation published earlier, we can blame Chick Young but anyone that listens to his information, probably gets what they deserve!

It does add further strength to the argument that the Scottish disciplinary process is not transparent enough and a switch to the style used in England would be of benefit to everyone. Making the situation known to everyone as clearly as possible is something that is surely better for everyone?

Then again, with a ten point lead and the likelihood of extending that next weekend prior to the big clash, would it be a major problem if they were without Boyd?

An absence of Boyd may not be as devastating as it could have been if it was a tight campaign. It is a must win match for Celtic, and even at that, a win would still leave them well off the pace, so Rangers have plenty of leeway and avoiding defeat will likely crush the optimism of even the most optimistic Celtic fan.

If Boyd was unavailable that would enable Walter Smith to revert to his tried and tested 4-5-1, invite Celtic on and hope to catch the visitors on the break. Regular watchers of this game will have seen that movie before so the loss of Boyd is not likely to be catastrophic for Rangers.

Will Boyd take this chance to punish Celtic?

Okay guys, sorry to do this – because amidst all the nonsense, there have been some very good comments on this thread.

Sadly, some of the remarks go beyond the line of what we want on the site. We’ve always wanted to give a bit of leeway between the fans…possibly a bit further than we should have done….but there are too many comments so far which have been removed from football.

Sorry but we’ll close this post up.

If we get the time, we’ll try and extract a lot of the good comments and place them into a post below.

Hope everyone understands…tensions are getting a bit hot, which is fair enough, its probably been a pivotal weekend in the title race.

And just so as we’re not hiding – yep, still holding our hands up for getting the story wrong in the first place – we’re not getting away with that one!
