Boyd helps Rangers munch up Falkirk
Teddy Bears show Celtic how to win at Falkirk
Rangers went top of the SPL for a couple of hours with a comfortable victory over Falkirk. The home side had drawn 3-3 with Celtic a few weeks back but on this occasion, they could only muster one goal to rank alongside the three they shipped.
As usual for Rangers against a bottom six side, the difference was Kris Boyd
Boyd would have started the match on a downer given that someone else had stolen his thunder and had changed their name to Mr Monster Munch. The Rangers striker is well known for his love of the retro based snack but he also loves goals.
Okay, he doesn’t always look happy when he scores but the opener versus Falkirk was welcomed with a rare Kris Boyd smile.

Rangers were two up and looking comfortable but Pedro Moutinho was looking as though he would be the architect of any Falkirk comeback. They may have Pele in their side but Moutinho is the Falkirk fan favourite at the moment and his goal close to half-time gave the Bairns a real chance of getting back into the second half.
Falkirk were improved in the second half but were unable to grab a goal and Rangers sealed victory when substitute Beasley was pulled down in the box. Kenny Miller dispatched the penalty straight down the middle and Ranger’s attention turned to Seville in the Champions League.
The trip to Spain is a meaningless game for the Scottish champions but a win would bring some welcome funds to the club.
Rangers boss Walter Smith was glad to put aside speculation on the Scotland job and look back on his sides most comfortable away win of the season so far;
“I felt we were excellent in the first half, it’s the best start we have had for a long time, although we had one or two bits of slackness. I felt we deserved our lead.
In the second half, Falkirk played very well for the first 20 minutes and they pushed us back for the first time and we were getting a bit concerned.”
Falkirk boss had been pretty bullish in the build up to this game and although his team played well, they lacked the cutting edge needed to hurt Rangers;
“We did OK without hitting any great heights. We lost two goals when we were on the attack, which is unacceptable. We should be brushing that up.”
With the Champions League campaign ending this week, Rangers will be able to focus on domestic duties.
