Bottom split farce affects Falkirk and St Mirren
Three trips to Falkirk for Buddies
Radio Scotland have been reporting that St Mirren will have to revisit the scene of today’s defeat after the split. By rights, the match should have been at St Mirren Park but it does indicate the problems that can occur because of the split and how it is set up.
No doubt St Mirren will be extremely unhappy with this state of affairs and the SPL will need to offer an explanation for that particular fixture.
It can be said that St Johnstone and Hamilton have got no fear of relegation so if any imbalance was to occur, it would have been better impacting upon them. Not that any team deserves to have an imbalance in fixtures but if it is inevitable with the split system.
The weekend of the 1st of May is the schedule for the Falkirk v St Mirren game that is causing the trouble. Quite rightly, St Mirren chairman was supposedly showing his displeasure upon announcement of the fixtures but they have been released now and set in stone.
Falkirk travel to Kilmarnock on the final day of the season and that game could be massive in the relegation shake-up but if St Mirren go down, they may harbour resentment at the SPL computer.
